João Pessoa

Known as "the city where the sun first rises", Joao Pessoa is the easternmost city of the Americas.  Paraibas capital is the greenest and oldest city of the state, and the third oldest city in Brazil.  It has an abundance of historical sites and religious monuments ensuring everyone a trip to remember.
The government has prohibited the building of tall apartment blocks near to the shoreline, making Joao Pessoa very clean and outstanding from other coastline cities.  As nature is protected by the law, urban beaches here preserve the true aspects of a tranquil "vacation beach".   Before the environmental concern that involved the world some time ago, Joao Pessoa's people learned how to preserve nature by planting tree's, an endearing gesture that helped the city to turn into a vast green carpet of over 70,000m2 of forest.

Within this urban reserve of the rain forest is Brejo das Freiras - famous for its thermal fountains of crystalline water reaching a steamy 36C.  Inhale the natural vapours whilst smearing the medicinal mud all over your body, then lounge in one of the natural thermal baths and benefit from natures deep cleaning.  In the late afternoon relax to the sound of the Belaro being played as you watch the sunset at Jacares beach in Cabedelo.  Reflect on the highlights of your day, and look forward to your adventures of tomorrow.

Under construction is a new modern convention centre overlooking Cabo Branco and the Atlantic Ocean.  The project includes a 13,642m2 Congress centre, a 19,346m2 exhibition and events arena; 3,000 seat theatre, tower with an observation platform and a helipad amongst other things.  The location is spacious, green, and complimented by lakes and water features.  This is just one of many examples of the government's forward thinking, and the vision to make Joao Pessoa, and the Northeast of Brazil a desired holiday destination.
