Corporate Social Responsibility
In today’s world, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not simply about donating money to good causes at the end of the financial year or some piecemeal action by going through the motions to satisfy some legal or regulatory obligation but is instead an all year round responsibility that companies should accept for the environment around them, for the best working practices, for their engagement in their local communities and for their recognition that brand names depend not only on quality, price and uniqueness but on how, cumulatively, they interact with companies’ workforce, community and environment.
Issues such as environmental damage and the improper treatment of workers have been highlighted in the media and the pressure on business to play a role in social and environmental issues is growing.
